Our Mission
Since opening in 1991, the doctors and staff at Best Friends have been working hard to keep your ‘Best Friend’, whether it be a dog, a cat, or a few of each, happy and healthy. We strive to provide consistent, comprehensive, compassionate healthcare for all life stages of your ‘Best Friend’. We work hard to ensure blue-ribbon customer service through friendly, competent, caring, knowledgeable staff. It is important to us that we work as partners with our clients to promote and encourage caring and responsible pet ownership. At Best Friends we are proud of our use of current technology, utilizing digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, laser surgery, and therapeutic laser treatments.

The staff and doctors of Best Friends look forward to providing wellness care for your ‘Best Friend’. When your pet is ill we offer a multitude of in-house diagnostics, referrals to specialty practices, and shared 24 hour emergency services with Columbus Animal Healthcare Center.

  • Dr. John (Jack) Chaille, DVM

Dr. Chaille was born and raised in Anderson, IN. Growing up in and around the veterinary community, he's had a passion for animals and the human-animal bond for as long as he can remember. He has considered Columbus his home for the past 11 years, living here part time while attending undergraduate and veterinary school at Purdue University as well as full time while working at a veterinary clinic in Franklin from 2014 through 2017. Dr. Chaille previously worked at Best Friends as a veterinary assistant during the summers of 2007, 2008, and 2011 which allows him to be very familiar with the style and scope of the practice as well as the support staff. After the first summer of employment at BFAH, he made it a goal to be able to come back "home" and spend the remainder of his career at Best Friends. Dr. Chaille has a special interest in surgery and preventative medicine which he believes will help to provide the best of care to his patients.

Dr. Chaille and his wife Sarah (a life-long Columbus native and current Cummins employee) live on a small hobby farm with four horses, two dogs, and two cats that they consider to be family. When not busy working at the clinic, he enjoys spending time at AQHA shows (as a spectator), projecting around his house/farm, and boating/swimming.
